Our Story: From Passion to Purpose

I started Submerged Divewear for the same reasons you probably love diving: the connection, the adventure, and the awe of the ocean. What began as a personal passion project quickly grew into a mission to help fellow divers express their love for the sea, even when they’re on dry land.

I'm Matt, the founder of Submerged Divewear. Originally from the UK, I'm now based in the US—but the brand's roots are firmly planted in the ocean. For me, diving isn't just a hobby; it’s a way of life that started back in 2001 and has shaped who I am ever since.

Before Submerged, I was a web developer. While I enjoyed my time building websites, I always felt the pull of the sea. Eventually, I traded my keyboard for a set of fins and spent the 2000s working as a PADI Instructor, Divemaster, and liveaboard guide in Thailand's Similan Islands. It was during this time that I truly saw the ocean as both a place of incredible adventure and a fragile ecosystem that needs our protection.

Submerged Divewear was born from that love. It's a brand dedicated to bringing the spirit of the sea to the surface through unique, ocean-inspired designs. Our mission is simple: celebrate the dive culture we all share while supporting the conservation efforts that protect the world we love. We work with ethical suppliers and put sustainability at the heart of everything we do, so you can feel good knowing your gear is helping to create a bigger, more positive wave.
